The president of ASPACER, Benjamin Ferreira Neto; the former president and board member of ASPACER, Heitor Ribeiro de Almeida Neto; Director of Institutional and Government of ASPACER and Gas Forum Coordinator Affairs, Luís Fernando Quilici participated, along with members of other entities in the energy sector and the Federal Deputy Mendes Thame (PSDB-SP), an official mission in the United States, between 21 and 24 September, in order to know the American experience of use of shale gas. Also known as unconventional gas, shale is extracted from a rock through fractionation, and the largest reservoir of the continent is spread over four states. The gas is cheaper than gasoline and less polluting than coal. On that occasion, the delegation members visited the “Center For Energy Studies” at Rice Universirty, Schlumberger Technology Center, the headquarters of Weatherford, Eagle Ford Shale, FMC Technologies and the Technology Center of Baker Hughes. Representatives of Anfacer, Abvidro and Abraceel also participated in the mission.
