System of tariff flags for electricity bill begins in 2015

semaforo_eletrobrasEnergy accounts will work with the system of tariff flags from January 2015, the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL).
The model, the flags, with green, yellow and red colors indicate the power generation conditions in the country and work as a “traffic light” – indicating the cost of power generation to the consumer.
Tariff flags, according to the agency, are a “different way” to present a cost that today is already on your energy bill, but that usually goes unnoticed.
Currently, the cost of energy purchased by the distributors are included in the adjustment calculation of tariffs these distributors and are passed on to consumers once a year when the adjusted rate takes effect for consumers.
Aneel also said that the tariff system flags will be valid for the whole country, except the states of Amazonas, Amapá and Roraima – since these states are not yet connected to the national electricity system.
What do the flags?
It said the green flag means “low cost” to generate energy and any increase in the rate. The yellow flag, in turn, indicates a warning signal, for generating costs are increasing and the rate suffers an increase of R $ 1.50 per 100 kilowatt-hour (kWh) consumed.
Already the red flag signals that the supply of energy to meet consumer demand occurs with higher generation costs, for example, the drive loads of thermal to generate energy, which is a more expensive source than hydroelectric power plants . In this case, the rate suffers an increase of R $ 3.00 for every 100 kWh consumed.
Adjust the consumer price
With flags, will therefore be a monthly signaling the generation cost of electricity which will be charged to the consumer, with the addition of yellow and red flags. Such signs gives the consumer the opportunity to adapt their consumption, if desired.
“The flag system is for the consumer to react to price point. For conumidor know how much it’s costing at that time and consume in a conscious way. It is one more tool to better tailor consumption. If we are in a time of scarcity and high cost, for example, he collaborates consuming less and this has a benefit to the system, “said the general director of Aneel, Romeo Rufino.
Flags are already disclosed
Aneel recalled that in “character education” and to facilitate understanding of the system, 2013 and 2014 were established as years testing and the Agency released month-to-month operation flags that period.
